Our Story

At 25 years Socorro was inspired to start a career as a cosmetologist. Always having curly hair that was hard to work with, she wanted to learn how to do her own hair and how to do it for others.  In 1999, she enrolled in Montebello Beauty College.
After graduation, Socorro worked in a couple of different locations and decided that she wanted to open her own salon. With the support of her husband, children, and sister, Zarios opened in 2006.
As a family, they came together to paint, decorate and get the salon ready for opening.

After opening the salon in 2006, Kristal was inspired to follow in her mom's footsteps. Seeing the kind of work she did, Kristal wanted to help make the same creations. She was still in middle-school, so, she did what she could do to help around the salon until old enough to go to cosmetology school herself.

At Zarios, we provide many services, including: Cuts, Color, Makeup, Extensions, Eyebrow Embroidery and more. We use the best products possible and provide excellent service.
We strive to continue in our education, to be current with trends and techniques, and we are very proud to be able to help change people's image and boost their self-esteem.

We feel that we are unique in that we have a membership program that rewards client loyalty and gives our customers a chance to earn points towards products and services with monthly specials to our members.

Socorro is also very proud to be able to work side-by-side with her daughter and to be a team.

Challenges & Obstacles

The worst thing was in 2008 when the economy crashed. Many salons and other businesses were closing. But, with a lot of hard work, we managed to keep the salon open.

In 2011 Socorro opened a second location in Downey. It was a real challenge to manage both locations while her daughter and son were still in cosmetology school and she had no one she could trust to help run the 2nd location. She decided to return her focus to the original location and serve her loyal clients in Pico Rivera.
"I have no regrets about how things have turned out. I've worked hard for all of my successes and I wouldn't change a thing." ~ Socorro

A New Start

In April of 2021 Zarios Hair Salon moved to a new location on Whittier Blvd., still serving the Pico Rivera community. In this upgraded salon, the Zarios team has added more team members and more services to better serve their clients.
